HONEYCOMB
Bees are crucial to maintain balance in many ecosystems around the world, because they are the main pollinators to fertilise the reproduction of plants. Bees collect much pollen and also nectar from plants which are used to produce honey, a very important resource. They need 8 kg of honey to create merely 1 kg of beeswax. This wax is used to construct their hexagonal prismatic comb to store their larvae and honey winter supplies. Bees have been disrupted by human activity such as pesticide use, thus negatively affecting the ecosystem which they support.
