Wijaya Kusuma is the Indonesian name of the mesmerising luminous desert flower, also known as the Queen of the Night. It shines with a crown-like radiance at night and closes its bloom upon sunrise to preserve water. The aroma it secrets is entrancing and hypnotising. The plant has a wide root base but above ground it only has a skinny stem, supporting its huge white blossom. For me, this flower can teach us growth, patience, and appreciation. Nothing is forever, everything always changes. What’s real today might not be real tomorrow.
