Redwood tree species have been around since 240 million years ago and are currently the Earth’s oldest, tallest, and heaviest trees. A redwood may live up to 2000 years, tower up to 120 meters in height, and weigh over 2000 tonnes. They can easily survive forest fires and actually thrive right after, because that is the best time for them to drop their seedlings. But in just over 150 years humans have destroyed 95% of its total population. Growth is silent and slow, whilst destruction is loud and rapid.
