CORAL DESERT
Coral reefs are rich in colour because of algae that live in them, simultaneously providing nourishment. When the algae die, the coral reefs will bleach and eventually die too. We have lost over 50% of all the reefs in the world in the last 30 years because of climate change, water pollution, and physical destruction from human activities. Coral reefs are home to a huge marine biodiversity, and losing this will also damage the world’s fishing and tourism industry. If we don’t make a change, we will be left with a desert of coral rubble.
