Ferns are ancient plants that grew to the size of large trees whose ancestors first appeared on Earth over 300 million years ago (Mesozoic Era). These are prehistoric vascular plants that don’t have seeds and flowers but reproduce by spores instead, thus are fast and easy growing. They are amongst the first plants to grow on damaged land. This is part of the reason why they play an important role in creating healthy ecosystems and regulating the Earth’s climate to allow the evolution of flora and fauna to thrive.
